Hi! My name is Barrett and I am a 14 year old entrepreneur and the owner of Barrett’s Bread.

I have had the blessing of growing up in family that values nutrition and health through whole and delicious foods prepared in our home. The story of Barrett’s Bread began one summer when a friend of the family offered to spend a week introducing my siblings and me to sourdough baking. I already knew my way around the kitchen pretty well, and that sparked a passion I continued to pursue over the next several months. When the new school year began, I was saddened to hear one of my homeschool teacher’s husband had just been diagnosed with intestinal cancer and undergone a successful surgery. Knowing there was not much I could do to help them, I decided I could at least share a loaf of sourdough with them. What I didn’t know is that very week my teacher’s husband experienced a setback with his recovery and eating was very difficult for him. However, when he tried my sourdough bread, his stomach began to feel better! Wanting to do everything she could to keep her husband on the road to recovery, my teacher reached out later that week and asked if I would bring a loaf of sourdough bread every week and she would pay me. AND she said she had an idea…create a business and name it: Barrett’s Bread! And EVEN MORE, she offered to create the logo! That is how Barrett’s Bread was born. Since then, I have continued working to perfect my recipes, skills and techniques, and share my hand-crafted loaves and creations with family, friends and customers. Welcome to Barrett’s Bread!
